City Slicker Farms

City Slicker Farms is a non-profit organization in West Oakland, CA, that creates high-yield urban farms and backyard gardens so people in the area have healthy organic food to eat. Their operations manager, Julie Pavuk, sent us some photos a few days ago with these comments:

Attached are a few photos of myself and Joseph Davis of City Slicker Farms, taken yesterday on our weekly harvest day. We have five community market farms in and around West Oakland where we produce vegetables, fruits and eggs. We transport the harvest to a central location where our weekly farmstand is held.

These pictures were taken yesterday, when I picked up the week's harvest from one site to transport to another.

Right now we're mainly using the trailer once a week to transport harvested produce between sites. In the past we've used the bike trailer and carts (we also have two custom-built bicycle carts) for hauling food waste pick-ups for composting, taking seedlings to farms sites to be planted, etc. We love our bike trailer!
